Congratulations to Arjun Narayan who placed 3rd in the boys dan grade kata at the KUGB National Championships in Nottingham
Congratulations to Sensei Jill Kelly who was awarded Shichidan (7th Dan) at the KUGB National Championships, by KUGB chairman Sensei Frank Brennan. Sensei Jill is the first female 7th dan in the KUGB. This is a massive achievement and we are all very proud of her.

We celebrated Father's Day at the club by inviting dads to come train with their kids!
June saw our annual Karate on the Beach event, kindly organised by Sensei Gemma & Dylan Gibson from Kokoro Karate Club. The event was a great success and club members enjoyed the training on the beach, followed by fish & chips then fun & games!

The Sunderland Championships held at CitySpace was a success for our club, and a great day out had by all. Well done to everyone who competed - we had some medal winners too!

Some of our club had the pleasure of training at the Advanced Kata & Kumite course held every year by Sensei John and Holly Bruce; the guest instructor this year was Sensei Greg Hegarty.

Thank you everyone who entered our Summer Holiday photo competition. After all entries were judged by KUGB Chair Sensei John Bruce, the winner was : Tristan Muter 9th kyu.

Congratulations to Jake Coultas on achieving his Gold award as a young leader. Jake has continuously applied himself to attain a higher standard to pass on his knowledge to help the young students in the club.

We took 14 students from Ashington to represent our club at the Northern Region Championships held at City Space Sunderland. Everyone did the club proud and had a brilliant day! A special shoutout to our medal winners..

Melody achieved the KUGB Young Leaders Bronze award - well done!
November saw the last club grading of 2024 with Sensei Garry Harford 8th Dan. Brown belts worked on Bassai Dai, whilst the black belts worked on Gojushiho Dai. A fantastic effort from everybody!
November was also a great month for the club as we gained two new black belts! Well done to Melody and Vinnie who gained Shodan from Sensei Frank & Jimmy Brennan 8th Dan, at Cityspace Sunderland.
